Beschrijving keerzijde The coloured niobium centre depicts a silhouetted First Nations hunter in profile, crouching and holding a spear or arrow at the ready, set against a large, detailed full moon rendered in silver tones against a warm brown field evoking a nocturnal landscape. The composition conveys stillness and focus as the hunter tracks unseen prey by moonlight, with engraver's initials JDM visible at lower right of the central insert. The outer silver ring bears the legend CANADA arcing across the upper periphery and 5 DOLLARS across the lower, separated by the bimetallic border. The striking contrast between the coloured niobium centre and the polished proof silver ring enhances the atmospheric nocturnal scene.

Aanvullende informatie

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's annual colored niobium series, which launched in 2004 and quickly developed a dedicated collector following for its technically demanding production process. Niobium's interference coloring — achieved by anodizing the metal to precise oxide layer thicknesses rather than applying dye or paint — means the hue is physically inseparable from the metal itself. The 2011 hunter-themed release was struck to a mintage of 20,000, consistent with the series' tight production limits that have kept secondary market prices firm across nearly every annual issue.
