| Reverse description | Central to the reverse is a large, full-color depiction of a Hawker Hurricane single-seat fighter aircraft in wartime RAF camouflage livery, bearing the fuselage code UP-W and serial R4118, shown in a dynamic banking attitude over a stylized landscape with white cliffs. RAF roundels in red, white, and blue are prominently rendered on the wings and fuselage. In the upper field, an uncolored engraved silhouette of a Hurricane is shown in plan view, accompanied by a circular plan-view diagram. The legend 100 YEARS OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCE curves along the upper periphery, while HAWKER HURRICANE 1937-1947 arcs along the lower periphery within a raised border. |

| Additional information |
The Hawker Hurricane is frequently overshadowed by the Spitfire in popular memory, despite accounting for more enemy aircraft destroyed during the Battle of Britain in 1940. RAF pilots flew Hurricanes against Luftwaffe bombers while Spitfires engaged the fighter escorts — a tactical division that made the Hurricane's contribution statistically greater, if less celebrated.
