Additional information

Guy Fawkes was arrested in the cellars beneath the House of Lords on 5 November 1605, hours before the planned detonation of 36 barrels of gunpowder positioned to destroy Parliament during the State Opening. The subsequent annual bonfire night became one of England's longest-running public commemorations — celebrating, with some irony, the survival of a king most Protestants had little reason to love.

Cook Islands has issued commemorative crowns under New Zealand's currency arrangement since the 1970s, with pieces like this functioning as legal tender in name only. KM#2402 was struck for the collector market.
