正面描述 Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, a pearl drop earring, and a pearl necklace, as sculpted by Raphael David Maklouf; the engraver's initials 'RDM' appear below the truncation. The circumferential legend reads 'ELIZABETH II • COOK ISLANDS' along the upper arc, while the lower arc bears the inscriptions '5oz 999 SILVER • 2017 • FIVE DOLLARS •', all within a raised inner border set against a brushed field with antiqued finish.

背面描述 A richly detailed and lushly illustrated scene depicting all thirteen major deities of the Greek pantheon — Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes, Hestia, and Hades — each rendered with attributes emblematic of their divine roles and arranged in a composite tableau across the coin's field. The design showcases exceptional high-relief engraving with deep antiqued contrast, giving the composition a dramatic sculptural quality befitting its subject matter. The legend 'GODS OF OLYMPUS' appears in the field, accompanied by the designer's initials 'JM'.

附加信息

The "Gods of Olympus" series was part of a broader wave of large-format colorized silver issues that flooded the collector market through Pacific Island issuing authorities in the 2010s — Cook Islands among the most prolific. These coins are legal tender in name only; Cook Islands has no mint of its own and contracts production entirely through private minting houses, with the New Zealand government handling actual monetary affairs under a 1901 arrangement that has never been formally revised.

The five-ounce format was chosen to maximize surface area for applied color and relief work, not for any monetary rationale.
