Obverse description The crowned arms of Niue displayed centrally, featuring a quartered shield with stars, pine trees, a figure, a shell, crossed hammers, and other national symbols, all surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by curved sprigs of fern, rendered in fine relief against a polished field. The country name NIUE arcs along the upper left legend and the date 1990 appears at upper right, both in raised Latin lettering.
