| 背面描述 | A forward-facing bust of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, wearing a suit and his characteristic round-framed spectacles, occupies the central field. Behind his right shoulder an American flag is depicted in relief, and below his bust the USS Arizona Memorial structure is rendered in the lower foreground above stylised waves. The denomination 5 DOLLARS appears to the right of the portrait. A circular legend arcs around the upper periphery reading PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT DEFENDER OF FREEDOM, while the lower periphery bears the quotation A DATE WHICH WILL LIVE IN INFAMY. |

Niue's early commemorative program in the late 1980s and early 1990s leaned heavily on American presidential subjects, a calculated move by the island's government to generate collector revenue — Niue having adopted the New Zealand dollar as legal tender with virtually no domestic coin-using economy to speak of. Roosevelt was a logical choice: the same portrait had appeared on the U.S. dime since 1946, making him one of the most recognized faces in circulation worldwide.
KM#35 was struck for the collector market and saw no meaningful circulation.
