| Obverse description | At centre, within a lobed, scallop-edged cartouche bearing a finely engraved seigaiha (wave-scale) patterned field, the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the designer's initials IRB below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II and SOLOMON ISLANDS arcs around the upper portion of the cartouche, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS to the right and the date 2022 at the base. Surrounding the central cartouche, the openwork filigree border is intricately pierced in a lattice pattern of interlinked rope-twist quatrefoils, with bamboo stalks framing the composition and multiple three-dimensional giant pandas with black enamel markings positioned throughout the pierced surround. |
