The Ferrari 500 F2 dominated the 1952 and 1953 Formula One seasons so completely that Alberto Ascari won nine consecutive Grands Prix — a record that stood for decades. The car was designed by Aurelio Lampredi around a four-cylinder engine, a deliberate departure from Ferrari's own supercharged V12s, chosen specifically to exploit a regulation change that favored atmospheric engines.
Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver under licensing arrangements with major brands since the 1990s, with the Ferrari series among the more commercially successful runs of that program.
