Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse presents the fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting the monarch in right-facing profile as rendered circa 2003 at approximately 77 years of age. The bare-headed portrait shows Her Majesty wearing a drop necklace and earrings, rendered in fine relief against a flat field. The surrounding legend reads ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA, invoking the monarch's title by the grace of God in abbreviated Latin. The effigy is positioned centrally, occupying the majority of the coin's face in a dignified and restrained sculptural style characteristic of Taylor's work for the Royal Canadian Mint.

Aanvullende informatie

Issued to mark the 80th anniversary of formal diplomatic relations between Canada and Japan, established in 1929. The Royal Canadian Mint produced this as part of its ongoing bilateral commemorative program, which pairs Canadian and foreign minting authorities on joint releases — in this case, alongside the Japan Mint. Such co-issued pieces are struck to the specifications of one partner mint and distributed through both countries' collector channels simultaneously.
