Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents a richly detailed multi-layered composition on an oval flan depicting the Resurrection of Christ. A central scene rendered in gold-toned relief shows the risen Christ emerging from the tomb, flanked by angels and witnesses, with radiating beams of light extending across the field. A Latin cross inlaid with crystal Swarovski elements occupies the lower foreground in gold-plated relief, its centre set with a clear baguette crystal. An amber-coloured Swarovski crystal is set at the apex of the coin. The inscription 'EASTER 2012' appears in the lower exergue.

Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver dollars under its own authority since the 1970s, a revenue arrangement that has little to do with local commerce and everything to do with the international collector market. The Easter series sits squarely in that tradition — produced for overseas sale, never intended to circulate on Rarotonga.

KM#1979 is one of several thematically grouped issues from the same year, sharing a production run distributed across specialist dealers in Europe and North America.
