| Descrizione del rovescio | The reverse displays the emblem of the First Special Service Force — commonly known as the Devil's Brigade — centered on a mirrored proof field with selective black rhodium plating. A textured arrowhead badge bearing the inscriptions USA and CANADA in vertical arrangement occupies the centre, flanked to the left by two five-pointed stars and to the right by a stylized Canadian maple leaf. Two crossed arrows appear beneath the badge, evoking the unit's special operations heritage. The denomination 5 DOLLARS arcs along the upper rim, the date 2013 appears in the lower field, and the bilingual legends FIRST SPECIAL SERVICE FORCE and PREMIÈRE FORCE DE SERVICE SPÉCIAL curve along the left and right peripheries respectively. The engraver's initials AB appear to the lower right of the central device. |

The Devil's Brigade — formally the 1st Special Service Force — was a joint American-Canadian commando unit activated in 1942 and dissolved in 1944 after the Italian campaign. The nickname came from a captured German diary entry describing the raiders as "black devils," a reference to their nighttime tactics and the boot polish they wore during operations. Canada's participation in this unit is frequently overshadowed by American accounts of the same formation, making this one of the few domestic commemoratives to center the Canadian contribution explicitly.
