| 正面铭文 | CAYMAN ISLANDS ELIZABETH II · 5 DOLLARS · |
| 背面描述 | Central device depicting a large cruise ship underway at sea, set within a circular border. Above the vessel, a detailed wind rose (compass rose) is displayed alongside a cartographic outline map of the three Cayman Islands — Grand Cayman, Little Cayman, and Cayman Brac — each identified by name in the surrounding legend. The commemorative inscription 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF CURRENCY BOARD arcs along the upper portion of the legend, with the anniversary dates 1971 - 1991 positioned below the central device. |

The Cayman Islands Currency Board, established in 1971 shortly after the islands separated administratively from Jamaica, has operated one of the most conservatively managed currency pegs in the Caribbean — the Cayman dollar has been fixed to the USD since 1974 at a rate that has never been adjusted. That unusual monetary stability made commemorative silver issues from this issuer genuinely backed by institutional credibility rather than opportunism.
KM#109 is a commemorative type on the standard 28.28g/.925 blank widely used by Commonwealth mints in the late 1980s and 1990s, struck at the Royal Mint.
