Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and draped, after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear below the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II and NIUE is inscribed below the portrait, with the date 2014 appearing above within an ornate oval cartouche frame. The denomination 5 DOLLARS is displayed on a scroll-style tablet at the base, flanked by foliate and acanthus decorative elements. An elaborate baroque surround with oak leaves, crossed sceptres, and an orb surmounted by a cross forms the upper border of the oval field.
