Obverse description Right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials 'IRB' appear below the truncation. The Tokelau coat of arms, depicting a traditional canoe bailer with a cross motif above a scroll inscribed 'TOKELAU MO TE ATUA', is centered in the lower field. Tokelau's coin program is administered almost entirely through external minting arrangements — the territory has no mint of its own and issues numismatic pieces largely as a revenue source, given its near-total lack of exportable goods. The Zodiac series to which this piece belongs was produced for the collector market, with colored enamel applied post-strike.

KM#116.1 distinguishes the colored variant from the plain finish 116.2, a cataloging split made necessary by the separate finishing process.
