Brutus himself issued coinage after the assassination — most famously the "EID MAR" denarius of 42 BC, struck in gold and silver to pay his troops before the Battle of Philippi, now among the most historically charged coins of antiquity. That Brutus used coinage as direct propaganda makes a modern commemorative in his honor something of an irony the original subject would have appreciated.
