| Additional information |
Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver dollars under New Zealand's currency arrangements since the 1970s, and by 2015 the program had expanded into a sprawling series of world heritage and architectural themes largely targeting the collector market rather than any domestic circulation. The Angkor Wat issue belongs to that wave. Cambodia's temple complex was built primarily under Suryavarman II in the 12th century and later reclaimed from jungle by French colonial archaeologists in the late 19th century — a restoration effort that continues today under UNESCO oversight begun in 1992.
