| 裏面の説明 | The central field features a rectangular color-printed reproduction of Albrecht Dürer's celebrated 1515 woodcut 'Rhinoceros', depicting a heavily armoured Indian rhinoceros in profile facing right, rendered in sepia tones against a parchment-coloured background. The inscription RHINOCERVS and Dürer's monogram appear within the image field, faithfully reproducing the original print. The legend OLD MASTER PRINTS is inscribed in Gothic blackletter script across the upper field, flanked by ornate scrollwork decorations on either side. The artist's name ALBRECHT DÜRER appears in large Gothic lettering across the lower field, with the date 2013 beneath it. |

Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver in volume since the 1970s, and by 2013 its numismatic program was producing dozens of themed releases annually through external minting arrangements — this piece among them. The subject is Dürer's 1515 woodcut of a rhinoceros, one of the most reproduced animal images in Western art history, made without Dürer ever having seen the actual animal. The rhinoceros in question had been sent from Goa to King Manuel I of Portugal as a diplomatic gift from the Sultan of Gujarat.
