| Obverse description | The obverse of this half-circle silver coin features the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, a right-facing diademed and draped bust modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, whose initials IRB appear at the truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II is incused along the left arc and COOK ISLANDS along the right arc of the straight diameter edge, following the curved contour of the half-circle flan. The denomination 5 DOLLARS is inscribed in the lower field along the flat base of the coin. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a polished proof field, exemplifying the refined die work characteristic of Rank-Broadley's Royal portrait. |
