Rotary International was founded in Chicago in 1905 by Paul Harris, and the first Australian club opened in Melbourne in 1921 — making the centenary a straightforward hundredth anniversary of domestic organisation rather than of the global movement itself. The Royal Australian Mint has issued commemoratives for Rotary milestones before, and this one-ounce silver piece follows that pattern.
