背面描述 A detailed architectural rendering of the Perth Town Hall dominates the field, depicted in a low-angle perspective that emphasises the prominent corner clock tower surmounted by a flagpole and flag. The Gothic Revival facade features arched windows, decorative stonework, and flanking wings extending to either side. The legend PERTH TOWN HALL arcs along the upper periphery in raised capital letters, while the denomination FIVE DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower arc. The engraver's initials AS appear in the lower right field, and the antiqued finish enhances the relief details of the architectural design.

附加信息

The Perth Town Hall, completed in 1870, was built largely by convict labour — one of the last public buildings in the colony to carry that distinction. It predates Federation by three decades and sits at the centre of a city that didn't yet know it would become the capital of Western Australia.

This piece is part of the RAM's 2012 Town Halls series, which antiqued the aluminium-zinc-bronze alloy to evoke aged architecture rather than circulating currency. The finish was applied chemically post-strike.
