Obverse description Fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, crowned and wearing a pearl earring, rendered in fine detail with elaborately styled hair, as designed by Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend NEW ZEALAND arcs around the upper left periphery and ELIZABETH II around the upper right, with the date 2006 and the regal numeral II positioned at the lower field flanking the truncation. The engraver's initials IRB appear at the base of the neck truncation. The mirrored proof field provides strong contrast against the frosted relief of the portrait.
