Obverse description The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, rendered with fine detail in the engraver's characteristic style. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left rim, while AUSTRALIA and the date 2000 appear along the right and lower right rim respectively. The engraver's initials IRB are incuse beneath the truncation of the bust. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the finely modelled portrait to dominate the coin's face.
