| 背面描述 | A stylised high-relief kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) perched on a branch facing right, rendered in bold sculptural form against a mirrored proof field. The bird's distinctive large head and stout bill are clearly delineated, with the branch extending diagonally across the lower portion of the design. The mint mark 'P' appears subtly in the lower right field, identifying the Perth Mint as the issuing facility. |

The Australian Kookaburra gold series was introduced in 2009 as a fractional companion to the long-running silver Kookaburra program, which had been issued annually since 1990. Each year's reverse design changes — a requirement built into the series from inception to drive collector demand and prevent hoarding for bullion purposes alone. The 2009 issue was part of a five-coin gold set spanning denominations from one-twentieth to one ounce, all struck to .9999 fineness, which the Perth Mint adopted as its standard for premium gold issues in the 1990s to distinguish its product from the .999 gold then common among competitors.
