Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after Ian Rank-Broadley, wearing the George IV State Diadem, with fine hair detail rendered in high relief. The engraver's initials 'IRB' appear incuse on the truncation of the neck. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the upper left field and 'COOK ISLANDS' along the upper right, both in serif capitals. The denomination '5 DOLLARS' is inscribed in the lower field beneath the portrait. The plain inner field provides a polished proof-like background characteristic of this non-circulating issue.

Aanvullende informatie

The 43rd Pacific Islands Forum was held in Rarotonga in August 2012 — a return to Cook Islands soil, as the Forum had been founded there in 1971 under the name South Pacific Forum. That inaugural 1971 meeting produced the Declaration of the South Pacific, a foundational document for regional cooperation that the Forum has traded on ever since. Cook Islands has issued collector silver for Forum anniversaries before, but hosting the summit gave the government a direct occasion to authorize this piece through the New Zealand Mint.
