Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem, with curled hair arranged in an upswept coiffure, drop earring, and a necklace visible at the truncation. This is the third definitive portrait, modelled by Raphael Maklouf, with the engraver's initials RDM incuse at the lower truncation. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field and NEW ZEALAND along the right, with the date 1998 inscribed at the base of the coin.
