Obverse description Diademed effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, portrayed at approximately 64 years of age, wearing the Royal Diadem, a necklace, and drop earrings, as sculpted by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper rim, with the denomination 5 DOLLARS and the year of issue appearing in the lower field. This constitutes the third definitive portrait of the Queen used on Canadian coinage.
