The bird is shown in a characteristic upright posture with its beak raised, tail feathers spread, and plumage rendered with great naturalistic precision. The circular legend THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA 1 OZ. 999 SILVER arcs around the upper and lateral periphery, while the date · 1991 · appears along the lower arc.
