The Central Monetary Authority of Fiji was a short-lived institution — established in 1973 and dissolved in 1984 when it was replaced by the Reserve Bank of Fiji. A 1986 date on a CMA-issued note therefore requires a closer look: this note belongs to a series authorized under the CMA's mandate but printed and released into circulation after the institutional transition, under residual authority during the handover period.

Thomas De La Rue had printed Fijian notes continuously since the colonial era, and the P#83 series reflects that long relationship — evolutionary rather than redesigned.
