New Zealand's decimal transition came on 10 July 1967, when the dollar replaced the pound at a two-to-one conversion rate. This series was ready for that launch date, printed by De La Rue in London across what became a fourteen-year run — unusually long for a single design series, and a reflection of how cautious the Reserve Bank was about commissioning redesigns during a period of persistent inflation that was quietly eroding the note's purchasing power anyway.

Four separate signatories across the run make date-signature combinations the primary collector variable here. Fleming signed earliest; Hardie's signature corresponds to the final years before the 1981 replacement series.
