Reverse description A youthful left-facing bust portrait of Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, depicted as she appeared at the time of her 1923 engagement to Prince Albert, Duke of York. The effigy is rendered in fine detail, showing softly waved short hair, a pearl necklace, and a low-cut gown, with a decorative floral and laurel spray arrangement beneath the portrait. The date 1923 appears below the spray within an inner beaded circle. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER arcs along the outer upper periphery, with ENGAGEMENT PORTRAIT inscribed within the inner border above the bust. The denomination FIVE DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower margin, all contained within concentric beaded borders.
