Reverse description The provincial bird of Saskatchewan, the sharp-tailed grouse, is depicted perched centrally on a fence post, its head raised and beak open, rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. Flanking the bird are two stalks of wheat, symbolic of the province's agricultural heritage, while in the background a grain elevator and a combine harvester are visible in low relief, evoking the prairie landscape. The commemorative dates 1905 and 2005 flank the upper legend SASKATCHEWAN, with the denomination $5 inscribed to the upper right. The legend CANADA appears along the lower periphery, completing the design by engraver José Osio.
