Aanvullende informatie

The wood bison (Bison bison athabascae) was functionally extinct in the wild by the early twentieth century, reduced to a remnant herd of around 250 animals in northern Alberta. The 2013 Royal Canadian Mint bullion series featuring Canadian wildlife drew directly on that recovery story — wood bison numbers had climbed back past 10,000 by the time this coin was struck, largely due to reintroduction programs run through Wood Buffalo National Park.

The .9999 fineness is notably purer than the .999 standard common to most silver bullion, a specification the RCM adopted aggressively in this period to differentiate its product in the competitive sovereign bullion market.
