Obverse description Draped bust of Liberty facing right, her hair bound with a cloth cap. The legend LIBERTY arcs along the upper rim, with the date 1804 positioned at the lower rim. The portrait is rendered in the classic Draped Bust style engraved by Robert Scot, with fine drapery details visible at the truncation. Stars are absent on this pattern variant, distinguishing it from regular issue half eagles of the period.
