Aanvullende informatie

Liberia's Central Bank issued a long run of commemorative copper-nickel five-dollar pieces through the 1990s and early 2000s, largely marketed to the international collector trade rather than intended for domestic circulation. The economy was still recovering from the First Liberian Civil War, which had effectively destroyed the country's financial infrastructure through the 1990s, and these issues were essentially a foreign-exchange mechanism dressed as coinage.

The "large type" designation distinguishes this from a smaller-format variant in the same series — a cataloger's note worth tracking when attributing KM numbers.
