5 Dollars Dendrobium Crumenatum

The Dendrobium crumenatum — the pigeon orchid — is one of Singapore's most widespread native orchids, flowering en masse only after a sharp drop in temperature of at least 5–6°C, typically triggered by a sudden rainstorm. The mass-blooming events last less than 24 hours. Singapore's botanical heritage has driven a long series of silver issues from the Mint, but the choice of a wild native species over one of the many cultivated hybrids the country is better known for exporting makes this particular release quietly unusual.
