Obverse description The obverse features the coat of arms of Barbados at center, enclosed within a raised inner circle bearing the legends BARBADOS 2026 above and 5 DOLLARS below, with the inscriptions 50g and Ag 999 flanking the lower field. Surrounding the central device, an extended quotation from Thomas Paine's 'The American Crisis' (1776) is arranged in a spiraling cursive legend that fills the broad outer field against a polished dark background. At the base of the outer field, a depiction of the Liberty Bell framed by laurel branches bears the numeral 250, commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence. The composition combines a mirrored proof-quality inner disc with a contrasting matte outer zone to dramatic visual effect.

Obverse lettering These are the times that try men`s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands by it now, deserve the love and thanks of men and women. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
