| Beschrijving voorzijde | Within the brass centre, a coconut palm tree leaning to the left is depicted rising from a rocky shoreline with water and vegetation at its base, rendered in fine relief. The legend COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS arcs along the upper portion of the steel ring, while TERRITORY appears along the lower arc. Eight five-pointed stars are evenly spaced around the ring between the two legends. The Malay inscription BUKAN WANG TUNAI (meaning 'Not Legal Tender') appears in the lower portion of the brass centre, just above the junction with the ring. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Cocos (Keeling) Islands operated a genuine local plastic token currency from 1977 until 1994, when the Australian dollar was formally adopted and the tokens were demonetized. What followed was a cottage industry of fantasy issues — coins produced with no official monetary authorization, marketed to collectors under the islands' name. This 2004 bimetallic piece is one such item, bearing the X# prefix in Krause's Unusual World Coins catalog precisely because it falls outside legitimate coinage.
The "X" catalog series is not an endorsement of official status.
