| Additional information |
Palau has operated as a prolific issuer of themed collector coinage since the 1990s, licensing pop-culture and automotive subjects primarily for the European and Asian novelty numismatic markets. These issues are struck to order by outside minting facilities and carry legal tender status in name only — Palau has no domestic coin circulation to speak of, and the face value bears no relationship to either silver content or collector demand.
The Corvette series was part of a broader wave of licensed automotive commemoratives that peaked around 2010–2013, when demand for novelty silver issues was at its highest following the 2008 spot price surge.
