Obverse description Central device features a frontal spread eagle with wings displayed, closely modeled after the Great Seal of the United States, clutching an olive branch in the dexter talon and a bundle of arrows in the sinister, with a shield superimposed on its breast. A semicircular arc of stars surrounds the eagle above, and the word LIBERTY appears on a ribbon above the eagle's head. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, while FIVE DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery, all separated by a beaded inner border.
