Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and collar, set against a smooth field with an overall obsidian black finish. The legend '5 DOLLARS · CHARLES III' arcs along the upper periphery, while '· COOK ISLANDS ·' curves along the lower periphery, both separated by raised dot stops. The engraver's initials 'DT' appear in the lower right field beneath the portrait truncation.

Reverse description Highly stylised rendering of a great ocean wave inspired by Katsushika Hokusai's iconic woodblock print 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa,' executed in an intricate linear engraving technique against a darkened field. The central wave rises dramatically with elaborately filigreed, foam-capped crests rendered in fine detail, while smaller waves recede into the lower foreground. A crescent moon and a starfield populate the upper left field, and a decorative floral and foliate border frames the entire composition along the inner rim. The date '2026' appears in small characters at the lower left of the field.
