| Obverse description | The obverse displays the Public Seal of Niue rendered in high relief at the upper centre of the field, flanked by the legends NIUE to the left and 2023 to the right along the upper rim. Below the seal, a dramatic sculptural composition depicts a winged tiger rearing on its hind legs to the left, a coiling dragon at centre, and a leopard at lower left, all set against a background featuring a traditional Chinese temple with a circular moon gate and a gnarled pine tree to the right. The denomination 5 Dollars and the fineness notation 2 OZ Ag 999 appear in bold raised lettering along the lower arc of the field. A small Chinese character 豹 (leopard) is visible to the upper left of the tiger motif. The entire surface is finished in antiqued silver, enhancing the sculptural depth of the design. |
