Issued to mark the 2023 lunar new year, this piece belongs to a long-running series of fractional gold issues produced for Cook Islands by the Perth Mint under its licensing arrangement. Charles III's appearance here is among his earliest on circulating or collectible coinage following the September 2022 proclamation — the Rabbit year gave mints worldwide a convenient first window for introducing the new effigy across themed annual releases.
