Issued to mark the 550th anniversary of Copernicus's birth, this piece arrives in a year when Poland mounted one of its largest commemorative programs for the astronomer — Niue's entry into that market is straightforward gold bullionware riding the same wave. Copernicus spent the bulk of his working life as a canon in Frombork, administering church estates and writing monetary reform treatises for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth alongside his astronomical work. Most collectors know the astronomy; the economics writings are almost never mentioned.
