5 Dollars Chapel Bridge

Palau's ongoing series of Swiss landmark coins, launched in the early 2000s, was produced under license and marketed primarily to European collectors rather than circulated domestically — Palau has no meaningful retail coin economy of its own. The Chapel Bridge issue commemorates the Kapellbrücke in Lucerne, originally constructed around 1333 as part of the city's fortifications. A catastrophic fire in August 1993 destroyed much of the structure; the reconstructed version tourists cross today replaced roughly two-thirds of the original timber.
