| Obverse description | The central field displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Palau, depicting a shield with two figures — a merman and a mermaid — flanking a central element, with a crescent moon and star above, set against an ornamental border. The motto RAINBOW'S END appears within the lower portion of the shield. Above the arms, a small vignette of a traditional Palauan outrigger canoe is rendered in the upper field. The legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU curves along the upper periphery, accompanied by six stars evenly distributed around the field. The denomination 5$ appears at the base of the coin in the lower exergual area. |

Palau's ongoing series of Swiss landmark coins, launched in the early 2000s, was produced under license and marketed primarily to European collectors rather than circulated domestically — Palau has no meaningful retail coin economy of its own. The Chapel Bridge issue commemorates the Kapellbrücke in Lucerne, originally constructed around 1333 as part of the city's fortifications. A catastrophic fire in August 1993 destroyed much of the structure; the reconstructed version tourists cross today replaced roughly two-thirds of the original timber.
