Additional information

Changi Terminal 3 opened in January 2008 after nearly six years of construction, and the Monetary Authority of Singapore issued this commemorative the same year. The terminal was notable at the time for its largely column-free interior and its integration of a butterfly garden within the transit zone — unusual enough in airport design to warrant official recognition in coin form.

Copper-nickel commemoratives of this type saw limited circulation; most were absorbed by collectors and airport retail channels at point of issue.
