The shield displays a bearded fig tree at its base flanked by two sugar cane stalks, supported by a dolphin (fish) dexter and a pelican sinister, surmounted by a helmet and mantling bearing a hand grasping two crossed pieces of sugarcane. A ribbon below bears the national motto in the legend.
