Liberia's early 2000s commemorative program produced dozens of copper-nickel five-dollar pieces targeting the collector novelty market, with subjects ranging across American history, European royalty, and world events. These were not circulating currency in any practical sense — Liberia's actual money supply at the time was severely strained by the Second Liberian Civil War, which resumed in 1999 and would devastate the country through 2003.
The Alamo fell on March 6, 1836, after a thirteen-day siege by Santa Anna's forces. All defenders were killed.
