备注

The Banque Canadienne Nationale was itself only two years old when this note was issued, having been formed in 1924 from the merger of the Banque d'Hochelaga and the Banque Nationale. The merged institution inherited charter obligations, shareholder pressures, and a customer base that was overwhelmingly French-Canadian — a demographic that Canadian banking's anglophone establishment had long underserved.

J. A. Vaillancourt served as the BCN's first general manager following the merger; his signature here places this note squarely in the bank's founding administrative cohort. The Canadian Bank Note Company printed the majority of chartered bank issues of this period from their Ottawa operation, and the BCN series followed that commercial norm without distinction.
