Palau has issued commemorative silver pieces with applied color and precious metal plating since the late 1990s, largely distributed through the European collector market via Pacific island licensing arrangements. These coins carry legal tender status under Palauan law but were never intended for — and have never seen — domestic circulation in a country whose de facto currency is the US dollar.
KM#192 is part of a seasonal nature series. The .750 gold plating over .925 silver substrate is a production method common to this era of Palau issues, applied after striking.
